The Friendly Toast is such a fun spot for brunch! The atmosphere is colorful, quirky, and full of personality, making it feel different from your typical breakfast restaurant. The menu has tons of creative options, generous portions, and something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory. The food was delicious, the vibe was lively, and the whole experience made for a great start to the day. Definitely a must-try for brunch in Boston!

I’m not sure how this restaurant operates but I was trying it for the first time just for take out and I’m really disappointed with the accuracy of the pickup times. The order was marked as ready for pickup, but when I arrived, it still wasn’t ready. I understand that there’s an estimated pick up time but it was marked as ready before the ETA and I showed up and ended up waiting 30 minutes outside after receiving the notification that my order was ready. The pickup time estimates are clearly unreliable and needs improvement.

Bustling place on a Sunday morning. I usually love crepes so I ordered the ham and cheese crepe and so very disappointed. The crepe was cold.

This is a gem in downtown Boston. The atmosphere, service and food are top notch. Our server was very attentive, food was delicious and the owner Dress made sure we were happy with everything. Highly recommended and please push your chair in when you leave.

Would NOT recommend this speakeasy. The host staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional, especially the guy with the blonde Justin Bieber haircut. . The attitude and lack of basic customer service were ridiculous. For a place that’s supposed to offer a classy, upscale experience, the first impression was anything but that. Management seriously needs to reconsider who they have welcoming guests. Definitely not worth the experience.

Wouldn't recommend this location of this chain, staff were overwhelmed. If you visiting Boston/USA and want a glass of wine to celebrate a big interview, I wouldn't recommend unless you have a form of American ID. I'm 33 years old. I assume being a women and being alone didn't help.... doubt they would have ID'd my husband who is the same age.

Fantastic place to eat, great location, and the staff are very friendly. The server Santiago, is very funny and has excellent recommendations on the menu. The Catalan flan and the meatballs are magical… everything was delicious, and we will definitely be back.

I have been here several times and had great dinners and lunches. Wanted to take my wife there for our 17th Anniversary as she had never been. My wife was sick that night and I needed to cancel our reservation earlier in the evening. No one answered the phone after several attempts. The recording said to email them, which I did. Wanted to reschedule for another night. Emailed them again a day or two after. Still no response. Disappointing to not be able to contact anyone - or to get an email or call back. We ended up going to another great spot later in the week but wonder why it was so hard to reach the team there.

We had lunch at Contessa today to celebrate my son’s nineteenth birthday, and William, who is from Brazil, truly made a difference in our experience. Our initial waitress made us feel rushed. She cleared my plate while my son was still eating and immediately brought us dessert menus. She later brought the check without asking whether we wanted anything else. At a restaurant of Contessa’s caliber, we expected more thoughtful, attentive service. I mentioned my son’s birthday to William, and just as we were about to leave, he asked, “It’s your birthday, right? Would you like ice cream?” My son happily accepted, and that thoughtful gesture turned our experience around. William’s warmth and attentiveness reflected the hospitality we would expect from a restaurant like Contessa. He made my son feel celebrated. Thank you, William!

Grill 23 was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Our server, Gino (I hope I’m spelling that correctly), absolutely delivered. His knowledge of the wine list, the menu, and the city of Boston was incredible, and he shared it all in such a warm, welcoming, and engaging way. He made the entire evening feel special without ever making it feel forced. The food was phenomenal. The steak frites were cooked beautifully, and the Candy Bar Sundae was the perfect way to finish the meal. Every detail felt thoughtfully executed, and both dishes exceeded expectations. What really sets Grill 23 apart, though, is the atmosphere. It has that perfect balance of old-school steakhouse charm and upscale elegance. The history, attention to detail, and prestigious accolades, especially its recognition for its wine program, make dining here feel like a true experience rather than just another dinner out. Between the exceptional service, incredible food, and timeless atmosphere, Grill 23 exceeded every expectation. A special thank-you to Gino for making the evening so memorable. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in Boston, and I can’t wait to return.

Had dinner here with some colleagues while on a work trip to Boston and it was a great meal. It had some drawbacks but overall was a great time. Ill start with the steak - got the cap that was on special and it was absolutely fantastic. Excellent cut, excellent cook. No complaints. We also had a great bottle of wine to accompany it.. the wine list was good. Had all of our top choices. Service was great.. the staff was very attentive and accommodating. The appetizers and sides we just ok, though. A bit bland and unoriginal. The restaurant is also very loud. The the acoustics, maybe the old stone, doesnt dampen anything and its hard to have a conversation at the table. Overall, though, I'd certainly come back. The steak and wine list was enough!

Cute little bakery/cafe. We had a boston cream pie and an egg breakfast sandwich. Both were good portion sizes and great taste. My husband and I split one of each and that was enough for both of us for a little breakfast to start off the day. The service was very quick and the store was very cute for a little breakfast place. If we were staying in Boston longer, I'd definitely go back to try their other baked goods - everything looked incredible!
